Memory Comforters

Memory comforters can be made from almost any article of clothing and almost any type of fabric.  Cotton and knits work the best.  Denim works well too but will make the end product heavier.  Sweaters, however, DO NOT work as they unravel when they are cut.  Normal block sizes are 6” x 6” but may vary depending on the clothing items I receive.  The back of the comforter is an extra wide cotton material so there is no seam in the back.  In between, I use a low loft batting.  This makes the comforter very warm without being overly thick.  The Memory Comforters are tied, not quilted.  This holds all 3 layers together without being stiff.

The number of items needed for a particular size varies widely depending on the size of the item and the way it’s constructed.  The numbers listed below are based on L or XL sized clothing.  Smaller sizes would need additional items and larger sizes may use less.

Lap Size – Approx. 4’ x 5’ – 4 or 5 items – $140.00

Twin Size – Approx. 5’ x 7’ – 5 or 6 items – $190.00

Full Size – Approx. 6’ x 8’ – 6 or 7 items – $240.00

Queen Size – Approx. 7’ x 8’ – 7 or 8 items – $290.00

King Size – Approx. 8’ x 8’ – 8 or 9 items – $340.00
